Facebook Friends Can Start a Reading Club!

B'SD

Elul 9,5772

Look what I woke up to when I glanced at Facebook this morning:

The book alerts readers to conventional and alternative and complementary medicine resources around the world, plus to charitable organizations willing to pay part or all of an applicant's unaffordable medical bills.

It even teaches you
how to organize
chaotic paperwork,
appointment schedules
and emotions
(including those of rude relatives
and medical practitioners)!

Reader Raina Steinman wants her world of Facebook friends to read what medical and mental health professionals recommend. Find out why.

I wonder when some Facebook Friends will launch a reading club for EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge

Here's How to Know Who Your Friends Are

B'SD

1 Tamuz 5770

My Self-Help Coaching work brings me into other people's lives. I've had occasion to hear clients telling me of lively but very troubling relationships that they mistakenly called "Friendships."

Here's a One Size Fits All definition of friendship: "Friendship isn't about who you have known the longest. It's about those who came and never left your side ..."

By being at your side, those people seek to improve your lot in life with productive assistance, be it financial, a shoulder to cry on, a sounding board for reflecting ideas back to you so they make better sense or by performing tasks that ease your pain. Simple, heartfelt fun is also the core basis of a friendship. Friendliness makes you feel elevated, makes you feel that you're a better person than you thought. Life seems so much sweeter with a healthy friendship. It reassures you that the actions you've taken and the thoughts you've pondered are good for you or, something ill advised. A real friend points out what can or cannot work for your benefit.

Your illness is one thing. If someone likes taking you on guilt trips, or blaming themselves or you about why suffering is happening, don't go along for the adventure. Why you're sick is between you and The One Above, not the gossips down on Earth. Illness is not cause for mentally or actually punishing people you know.

Friendship increases happiness. It is not about symbolic victories that hurt other people, not about punishing someone on your behalf. Friendship makes your heart lighter and your lips curve into a genuine smile.

There's a lot of heartwarming stuff about friendship in EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge. Read it with those real friends helping you through your medical challenge.

Communicate with Companions When You See the Doctor (or, How to Get Your Medical Story Straight)

12 Tamuz 5768

According to Johns Hopkins University's expert on such matters, Jennifer L. Wolff, PhD, assistant professor in the Bloomberg School's Department of Health Policy and
Management, older patients do better when someone takes them to doctor visits and participates in communication efforts with relevant medical professionals.

Wolff says, "We found that patients were more satisfied with their care when visit companions were actively involved in the communication between patient and provider."

Gosh. My book explains why EVERYONE is better off taking a friend or relative along on doctor visits: The STRESS of facing an illness (pain, fear, sadness), coupled with the complications affecting the patient's health (dietary and medicinal changes, a body that's working in negative and embarrasing ways, endless phone calls and faxes, the tiring and maddening efforts to reach medical appointments etc.) tends to dominate the patient's focus. Memory banks seem to need help for handling added information.

The patient needs a sympathetic, attentive listener on hand to clarify matters with medical professionals and to keep the patient informed of ever-changing realities. Many of those realities cause further emotional turmoil. The sick person needs a "time out" so to speak, to make an emotional recovery while someone else records new appointments for medical tests, figures out how to finesse necessary paperwork and all that other dreary stuff.

It's My Crisis! And I'll Cry if I Need To: A Life Book that Helps You to Dry Your Tears and to Cope with a Medical Challenge

lists suggestions for making the most of medical visits with a little advance preparation and wise follow-up ideas. Having a companion along for doctor visits is only one piece of medical and mental health professional-approved advice in the book.

Read It's MY Crisis! to learn why medical and mental health professionals find it so helpful for making medical progress.

My can-do strategies for improving communication with medical professionals are effective, low-cost, and easy to accomplish!

Need to improve YOUR doctor-patient communication efforts?

My book is an equal-opportunity read. It helps everybody on both sides of the exam table ;^ )

Do You Need a Hug?

10 Cheshvan 5768

Facing a medical crisis is frightening. You wonder who will be a good friend to you. Who will help? Will you be cured? How can anybody stop the pain you're in? Can you find anything to smile about? Will you make it to the happy events you want to attend in the future?

So many questions and nobody to give you guaranteed answers. The answers you so much want and need to hear. You sigh, or cry, maybe show a temper to somebody trying to help you. You so much want a wonderful friend to be with you. Someone who never runs out of patience. Someone who can make you smile again. Someone to embrace you like the elephants kissing each other above.

I can't hold your hand or give you a hug, but I can suggest that you read my It's MY Crisis! And I'll Cry if I Need To. It's all about compassion: how to forgive yourself and others, how to face the pain, the questions, and the fear. It can teach you how to become emotionally stronger.

You'll giggle at some of the humorous thoughts in the book. You'll try the ideas that excite you, and best of all, you just might find solutions you need in the RESOURCES section.

Let my book be a friend to you. Read the parts you enjoy again and again. Look at the front and back covers and see all the hands reaching for yours. The opening words of It's MY Crisis! acknowledge your agony. Cry when you need to. Find the License to Cry in the first few pages.

Buy It's MY Crisis! And I'll Cry if I Need To for yourself or a loved one. Let it be there for you when you need that special friend. Just click on http://www.booklocker.com/books/3067.html
