B'SD 13 Cheshvan, 5779 There's good news on the American healthcare scene. If you disagree, think back to when doctors were leaving the medical profession in startling numbers every month. Insurance issues were killing the healthcare industry back then, let alone people.
B'SD 22 Tamuz, 5778 Whew, I've been busy as a medical school exam proctor and preparing articles for this mental health site:
I suggest that you click on the articles, check for others that I've written there, and see if they help you or someone you know. When you want to laugh at your medical life, find solutions to problems (especially financial problems!) with it, and learn what to do about interfering in-laws and outlaws, read
Ukers might find the book especially helpful as they seek alternatives to the financially flailing NHS.

Face Your Future with Optimism.
Fill your life with positive results!
B'SD 13 Av, 5775 As if headlines weren't scary enough, yesterday's edition ofMedPage Today looked at a serious issue: When it comes to health care spending, "We must face the fact that we largely have been asking the wrong questions for many years," says Stuart Guterman. Wedges shmedges. You need help to lower your medical bills now. Ask your medical team and pharmacist for solutions. They tend to exist (too far and too few, sad to say) or to be possible, but only for people who seek them out. Need more cost-cutting information? Look for relief in the Global Resources section of the E-book or print edition of EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge. Face Your Medical Problems with Dignity.

Yocheved doesn’t play “Holier than you” games with her readers nor does she
pretend that all will be sweet if only you follow the suggestions in the book.
From cover to cover, Yocheved acknowledges the pain, confusion and anger that
go with illness. She shares practical, proven ways to “Face Your Medical
Problems with Dignity. Face Your Future with Optimism” throughout the text.
Different chapters show you how to tame the insurance and medical paperwork
monster, how to remember every medical appointment and medication (including
what they’re for!); even the names of all the doctors involved in your medical
care or your loved one’s.
There are humorous takes on life throughout the book, including a “knock ‘em
flat” response to critics who insist you have no right to cry "... because
G’D only gives what we can handle” (ever heard of a nervous breakdown? Death?
Lifelong disabilities? The need to recover from a setback?). They and Yocheved
validate your emotions and let you laugh so you can restore your sense of
perspective, your zest for life AND your better self to the overall picture.
You might even end up feeling better about G'D!
World-renown psychiatrist Dr. A. Twerski chuckles that he gives it
to patients on chemotherapy and to addicts in rehab. “They don’t call me much
after that. “They feel better just reading the book!”
Yocheved Golani is different from other authors in the medical, self-help and
inspirational genre because she’s honest about what it takes to cope with harsh
reality and end up smiling. No white-washing with her. Just solid stress-busting
information proven to work over time, plus time-saving leads to the
cost-cutting information ill people need. The Global Resources section at the
back of the book is a goldmine of organizations willing to provide you with a
free wheelchair, medical transportation, affordable medication or medical
appliances and lots more!
“Yocheved Golani energizes
us all to partner with GOD to seek and savor life to the fullest for both our
mental and physical health. This book is lifesaving, emotionally rewarding,
spiritual, funny and helpful…” - Dr
Judith Guedalia PhD, Director of Neuropsychology Unit and Chief Medical
Psychologist ER Trauma(MCE) Team at Shaarei Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem,

I can well imagine the sense of dread, panic and raw fear in the people who might be affected by this drastic move. $125.00 does not buy much health care. At retirement age, quality healthcare is usually Priority 1! Considering the Confusion in California about Medicare Exchanges being Meaningless, more older Americans need to know how to obtain adequate health care. It's a matter of survival!
If I were in this situation,
I'd be weeping.
Know a Detroiter or Californian who needs affordable quality medical care?
Medication?
Medical transportation help?
Medical appliances?
Something else medical?

I was at a party last night. The hostess asked each international guest to introduce themselves as we sat in a circle. As the conversation continued, one person mentioned that she's helping someone to get past a medical problem with her dignity intact by using a book. The hostess asked "Which book is that?" I almost dropped my drink when the answer filled the air!
Then, the hostess remarked, "Oh, I have a copy of it on my bookshelf. Here it is! My whole family reads this whenever we need to!" She pointed to the bookshelf where she stores her copy. Here's something that a reader wrote on the EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge Facebook page: "A moving, uplifting book. Order it now ! B'SD 25 Tevet, 5773 There's nothing quite like falling asleep with a good book splayed across the blanket or your chest. Spending time with a good read is one of life's great pleasures even when you're sitting in a chair, at the doctor's office or anywhere. Any time of day is a good time to read something that leaves you off better than before. A print edition is so much more endearing than an E-book can ever be. B'SD 26 Tishrei, 5773 One of the activities of that face-to-face Facebook group members meeting the other day was to pray for ill people to heal emotionally, physically and spiritually. The impetus for that was the stunning news that a heroic lady and her husband have been faced once more with her battle to defeat cancer. You can read their touching, motivational blog Crossing Jordan (the Yarden in Hebrew) and join the people in Stella's army praying for her recovery. Stella's Hebrew name is Tzureeya Kokhevet bat Sara (Tzureeya Star daughter of Sara. Sorry, Tzureeya doesn't translate into easy English).
I'm trying to get a copy of
to her via a mutual friend, as it lists worldwide organizations willing to pay for part or all of Stella's (or anyone's) medical and medication costs. If you want to help us to accomplish the mission of mercy, contact me via giveretgolani@gmail.com. You can see a few of us holding on to our prayer booklets in this photo by fellow blogger Batya Medad
(my booklet is in my hand but was cropped out of the photo to fit this blogpost). Joy is part of life. A little guy let me dance with him to make a mood of happiness to improve anyone's outlook and life. GOD willing we'll dance again to celebrate Stella's healthy victory.
