Several Solutions if You or the Family Need Dental Care

B'SD

Sad news in the healthcare world: Millions of Kids Lack Dental Care, IOM Reports

Dental health is essential for the rest of the body. The ability to properly chew food affects our digestion and absorption of nutrition. Teeth and gums in poor condition create pain and a chain of reactions that damage health. Kids lacking basic dental care now can be severely affected by lack of oral hygiene and competent dental care for the rest of their lives.

Dentists can identify serious health problems by looking at your mouth - even if if you brush and floss regularly and see a dentist on a regular schedule. Oral health has a Mouth-Body Connection.

The solution can be simple in many parts of the world. England's National Health Service offers low-cost and free dental care to citizens who can prove financial need for it. America's National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research published up-to-date Finding Low-Cost Dental Care news this past March. Israel provides free dental care for children (many of Israel's immigants had never been to dentists until arriving here). Other places provide free or affordable dental care at teaching colleges or charitable institutes. YOUTube is full of videos about that.

Touch Your Toes to SAVE Your Life!

B'SD

7 Tevet 5770

Friends find it amusing that when I stretch, I go a-l-l-l- the way, touching my toes (no, I don't bend my knees) then reaching for the sky. I follow it up with criss-crossed fingers arched upward as my arms push them skyward. Next, my hands go palms up as I pull on my spine for all it's worth. Oooh, that easy Yoga move gets out some kinks so easily!

Here's some food for thought about cardiac health:

Read that article again. Be sure to follow the advice it shares. THAT could save your life.

Are YOU Afraid of Your Heartbeat after a Good Run?

B'SD

1 Kislev 5770

Doctors at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the US National Institute on Aging believe there's no reason to fear odd heartbeats after a brisk run, even if those heartbeats feel strange to you:

"Healthy, older adults free of heart disease need not fear that bouts of rapid, irregular heartbeats brought on by vigorous exercise might increase short- or long-term risk of dying or having a heart attack, according to a report by heart experts at Johns Hopkins and the U.S. National Institute on Aging (NIA).

"Researchers say such fears surfaced after previous studies found that episodes of errant heart rhythms, more formally known as non-sustained ventricular tachycardia, more than double the chance of sudden death in people who have already suffered a heart attack
."

Science Daily: Exercise-Linked Ventricular Tachycardia Is Not a Risk to Healthy Older Adults.

OK, class, put those running shoes back on and glory in the sunshine. Let your heart fill with gratitude that you can run, that the weather's gorgeous, and with whatever else you're enjoying. Power up your personal health on indoor tracks or outdoor paths.

And be sure to read a book that medical professionals recommend. EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge.

Why Chocolate is GOOD for Your Heart!

B'SD

25 Tishrei 5769

I always advocate "feeding my inner giggle." Today I just might feed yours ;^ )

One of my "Recommended Links" goes to chiropractor Dr. Reuven Rosenberg's blog, and WOW does he ever have a deliciously good post today!

NOW I know why I crave chocolate, chocolate mousse, deep dark chocolate, Cafe Hillel Kubiyot Chocolade (GAWD are they good! I even lick the powder off my plate), and why I have a reputation for having a "good heart." I've been nurturing my inner chocoholic - and it's GOOD for me! Mmmmm, I feel healthier already. Pass the hot fudge sauce, please...

Have a happy weekend and be sure to BUY MY BOOK so you can learn more yummy tips for better health and healing. Read it with a cup of hot cocoa handy. The weather's turning cold...

To your good health,
