Scary medical news: Life Expectancy Lags in the U.S.
Life expectancy in the U.S. lags behind that of many other high-income countries and is currently ranked by the United Nations at number 28, despite spending the most on healthcare, according to a National Academy of Sciences report. In 2006, the... full story at

Deadly Medicine?

B'SD

22 Shvat 5771

Readers, I do not scare easily. I've worked as a Health Information Management professional and read many heartbreaking medical records. I've learned about the baffling, complicated world of medical research and medical practice. They're loaded with frightening pros and cons, rife with rollercoasting emotions on both sides of the bedrail.

I've lived the fear as a survivor of severe medical setbacks.

But my background did not prepare me for the forthright facts presented in Vanity Fair magazine's article,
DEADLY MEDICINE.

Click the link above and read the article from beginning to end. It's a sad commentary on harsh realities. A wake-up call to all of us.

Lights OUT to Prevent Breast Cancer!

B'SD

14 Shvat 5771

My coaching practice advocates the same thing that I do with my private life: going to sleep shortly after dark.

Skeptics have criticized (or mocked) my habit of hugging my pillow soon after the sun goes down. I remained firm in my decision over the years because the world of natural healing techniques/vegetarianism has long taught that remaining active during naturally dark hours is a health hazard.

I'm pleased to see that the mainstream world finally admits the reality to the rest of the world: Light at Night Can Lead to Cancer!
The news is spreading around the world via websites, television and radio news shows.

How to Protect Your Welfare: DEMAND Accountability in the Mental Health World!

B'SD

5 Shvat 5771

Readers, I've wondered if valid security measures were in place before Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' community-oriented event began. It is odd that local and federal law enforcement officials, and Homeland Security in particular, missed the glaring clues of Jared Loughner's lack of mental health, his contempt for a peaceful American society, and his repeatedly stated threats to public welfare.

Hearts are broken,
lives were lost.
Others hang in the balance.
THAT situation need not
be repeated!

YOU are in a position to demand accountability from your legislators. Arm yourselves with some appropriate reading here:

Dr. Keith: Tragedy of Mental Illness
By Dr. Keith Ablow

Published January 09, 2011
FoxNews.com

The story of Jared Loughner’s murderous rampage, which took the lives of six innocent victims and critically wounded Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, will ultimately prove to be a story about how severe mental illness—including that linked to violence—routinely goes untreated.

By all accounts...

Bouncing Back from Brain Injury

B'SD

4 Shvat 5771

My heart goes out to
Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and all the 19 defenseless people shot at an intentionally pleasant community event in Arizona, USA yesterday. Any sane, compassionate person is reeling from the horror of the event.

There are ways to recover a measure of calm after emotional and physical shocks.

There are ways to recover from, and to cope with, brain injuries and other medical problems.

But not everyone knows how.

A journalist has done her initial interview with me for a website dedicated to helping people with low vision problems. Her boss was interested in learning how I am literally overcoming mine with an upbeat attitude and increasingly better sight.
