Dressing Despite that Disability

B'SD

23 Av 5771

I've been participating in a LinkedIn conversation concerning Disabilities.

One of the commenters mentioned how hard it is to dress herself. Here's my response to the problems she encounters daily:

"... try a front-hook bra. It's great for women with limited range of motion. Racer-back bras with front closures are even better. No droopy straps you can't pick up or hesitate to lift in front of onlookers. Most bra companies make them and One Hanes Place paper or online catalogs offer great bargains on underwear of all kinds at times.

Ask your local pharmacist or shoe seller for stik-on heel pads that provide friction and pull to secure feet inside shoes.

Look for online and paper catalogues that provide clothing you need. I survived severe allergies with products from Janice's http://www.janices.com/ site.

As for the shorts, try Lands' End. They tend to make items that fit modestly, not skimpily."

Okay, men, let's hear some get-dressed despite disability ideas from you. I can share them on this blog.

If People with Down Syndrome Ruled the World...

B'SD
12 Kislev 5770

Readers, I responded to a heartwarming online essay, written by a loving father named Rich Mistkowski. I asked his permission to present that essay at my blog. Mr. Mistkowski agreed to let me share his words with you.

Here is the essay, followed by my initial response to it:

If People With Down Syndrome Ruled The World...
Thanksgiving is a day for giving thanks! My son Mattie is a big reason for why we are so thankful. He's happy, healthy (the holes in his heart have closed & the baby leukemia is gone), handsome, and has taught me the importance being positive about everything. I received a document from someone last year and I wanted to share it with you, so that you may get an understanding of the life of someone with Down Syndrome. If you know someone with Down Syndrome, then you will get it immediately. If you don't know someone with Down Syndrome, you're in for a treat! If you get a chance, please take a moment to read it. If Down Syndrome People ruled the world, just imagine how different a world we would live in!

Great food for thought, hmm, readers?
I hope it helps you to face your medical or any other crisis.

Which Writer Does "AMAZING, Thorough, Efficient and OUTSTANDING Research"?

B'SD

14 Tishrei 5770

Readers, I'm blushing as I type, but willing to do so in order to portray an important point relevant to each of us.

I write about medical and other issues as an author, journalist and provider of writing services. I pride myself on quality work and that NOT ONCE in my writing career (1992 until today - and beyond, I pray) has an editor needed to publish errata to correct a gaffe I made.

Here's a blurb that one of my recent interview subjects, Stuart Nitzkin - the USA's National Director of Israel Sport Center for the Disabled, shared with colleagues at
LinkedIn, an online global business resource:

Stuart Nitzkin has endorsed your work as
Author, Journalist, Writer at Yocheved Golani INK.

Dear Yocheved, I've written this
recommendation of your work
to share with other LinkedIn users.

"I have had the privilege to work with
Yocheved on an article and it was
nothing less than an amazing experience.
Her attention to detail and thoroughness
are second to none. The accuracy at which she
portrayed the topic and efficiency at which
she completed the article was outstanding.
I would recommend Yocheved anytime
as she will be a huge asset to any project."

Mr. Nitzkin and I were strangers to each other before we interacted. Now if he so greatly appreciates my attention to detail and accuracy in one brief relationship, imagine how much YOU can benefit by reading the E-book I've written to meet your medical and emotional needs for coping with medical crises:

Need Affordable, Comprehensive Health Insurance with that Pre-Existing Condition? Look Here.

B'SD

14 Menachem Av 5769

Check out this communication via the "Just for Writers" group at LinkedIn (join my LI network).

A gentleman asked members at large:

"How can someone with health problems
(muscular dystrophy, pacemaker),
who wants to write science fiction
novels and short stories for
a living, find affordable,
comprehensive health insurance?

"I've checked with writers unions
and most of them say insurers
would deny me based on
my health problems.

"I'm considering starting a sole
proprietorship so I can become a
group of one and they won't deny
me coverage. Of course, I don't
know if they'll give me
affordable insurance or cover
the various things I need because
of my muscular dystrophy and the
resulting effect on my health.

I'm hoping you've got some ideas
that I haven't thought of. I know
I can find a solution to
this obstacle."

Here's how I replied to the question:

"B'SD

Announcing the Reimbursement Wiki

B'SD

16 Sivan 5769

One of the nightmares of medical problems is financial. You - and your medical team - struggle to figure out how to be reimbursed for medical care. The figures add up over time and BIG debts develop.

Here's some good news for American citizens: One of my LinkedIn colleagues (LinkedIn is a sort of Facebook for business professionals) has created a partial solution for the problem:

Announcing the
Reimbursement Wiki

I am announcing the public availability of my Reimbursement Wiki. I have compiled links to coding, coverage, and payment information, as well as information such as the following:

- Medicare (URLs for rules, topics such as surgeries, compounding, CED, MS-DRGs, DME, inpatient list, laboratory and diagnostic testing, etc.)

- Managed Care (URLs for medical/coverage policy sites at various payers, technology assessment organizations, literature on coverage decision making, etc.)

- Medicaid (URLs for CPT/HCPCS code lookup by state for payment info, state fee schedules, drug product data, etc.)

- Payment (URLs for Medicare payment basics, top 200 CPT/HCPCS codes, top 100 lab procedures, literature on drug pricing, etc.)

There is plenty more -
basically reimbursement
and health resources
I have collected in one place
for reference purposes.

The Reimbursement Wiki is an ongoing project of mine, and I add material based on topics of current work, so not all topics are represented equally. Nevertheless, I find it an invaluable resource, and I hope you do, too.

Access to the Reimbursement Wiki is free. The only requirement is to open an www.atwiki.com account. E-mail me your username so I can send you an invitation.

My E-address is scott@argentaadvisors.com.
Or you can contact me via LinkedIn.

OK, class, you now have a terrific tool for being able to better afford expensive medical care. Do your homework. Ask compassionate, detail-oriented friends/family help you to recover monies you deserve according to US law.

I've been on both sides of the hospital bed and I know, reimbursement procedures are tedious, confusing and one great way to zap your sense of humor.

Treat yourself to an emotional recovery.

Buy a copy of
"It's MY Crisis! And I'll Cry if I Need To: A Life Book that Helps You to Dry Your Tears and to Cope with a Medical Challenge" today.

Recharge your smile and sense of a better future. Medical and mental health professionals use the book for this purpose, too.

To your success,
