Certified to Save Lives!

B'SD

10 Nisan, 5774

I spent the past few (HOT, SUNNY and pre-Passover) days learning from Pikud HaOref (Israel's Homeland Security folks) how to save lives in the event of terror attacks or earthquake, and other disasters. I'm zonked, satisfied and certified. But do me a favor: Pray hard, be nice and stay safe. I don't want to swing another axe, bust through brick or concrete walls in awful positions, pull bricks and/or dirt up and away as fast as I can, or to heave any boulders off possible survivors. Yes I know how to load someone with broken bones, burns and other injuries onto a stretcher.

We won't even go into what disaster scenes and survivors can look like, OK? Let's just say I'm blessed with a strong, very strong, stomach. AND WOW do I understand I10 disaster codes a lot better now. BE GOOD.

PS - We worked hard to finish the course fast so students could return to our regularly scheduled activities: CLEANING our hearts and homes for the Passover holiday which starts next week!

I wore surgical scrubs under my skirt and for my top (under the orange rescuer's vest) so I could competently stretch over things without causing self-injury. Disaster scenes tend to itch, scratch and make a person dirty. I needed to work full speed ahead.

PPS - wouldja believe I've done medical coding homework in the last few days, too?

I'll add photos of the men we worked with, plus our male commanders - if I receive the ones they took.

Ah, here's something from my files:

One Helluva Week and Then Some...

B'SD

4 Kislev, 5773

It's been a helluva week since last Sunday's update. I spent the Sabbath praying for the safety of my people and listening to Shidur Shaket, silent radio, which broadcasts warnings of incoming missiles from Israel's enemies (too many to count!). The defensive Israeli response to the incessant rocket-fire was long in coming, not the offense that mainstream media has made it out to be.

Anyone wishing to recite tehilim, psalms, to ask for HaShem's (GOD's) mercy on the Jewish people can focus on chapters 20, 83, 121, 130, and 142. Read them to see why they're appropriate to the occasion.

Any pro-Israel prayers, straight from the heart, are welcome. Jews have been under attack since the days of Abraham (the world's first monotheist) and Isaac, when Ishmael tried to murder his half-brother.

Judaism advocates compassion, the polar opposite of what Hamas, the PA and the Koran stand for.

Political concessions are worthless as you see below.

Israel shrinks
and the attacks to obliterate the Holy Land
and her Jews
continue.

You can stay updated about the situation via http://muqata.blogspot.co.il/

A political, moral, and theological crisis - you'd cry too, if it happened to you. Use your tissues and handkerchiefs with my blessings borne of experience. GOD gives you Permission to Weep. And you can say that to any critics after explaining that "It's MY Crisis! And I'll Cry if I Need To."

Meanwhile, ill people around the world need to know how to lower their medical costs, how to reduce their overall stress and how to to receive the care they need as they improve their moods and organization skills. Solutions for all that fill the E-book or print edition of EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge. Buy a copy for yourself or a loved one today!

Catch!

B'SD

27 Cheshvan, 5773

Gosh I have much to share with you after a week off so I could travel to Israel's north. I'll share some thoughts but reading them might seem to be like a game of "Catch!" Here goes:

I made new friends and did some healing work while I was in Tzfat, an ancient city known for its mystics and naturally beautiful mountainous region. Lush greenery and heartbeat-thrilling skylines compete with breath-takingly beautiful skies. You can see quite far from almost anywhere in the area, even into far-away hearts and minds. Israelis there were praying for Hurricane Sandy survivors to overcome their challenges, as are Jews all over Israel.

Israel's government has sent substantial manpower and equipment to help Hurricane Sandy survivors.

I am saddened to see that despite Obama's re-election to an already US-damaging presidency, that he has not shored up FEMA or much else. Photo-ops simply do not save lives.

Meanwhile, Israel has been under an ongoing hail of rockets for weeks. They're coming from Gaza ( launched on land that Israel surrendered for the sake of peace) and Syria, hitting us from south to north. 70+ rockets have hit my country since Saturday and they haven't stopped falling! I've spent weeks with fellow Israelis praying for others and  I sure hope you'll pray for our rescue from madness. About one million Israelis in the south of Israel alone are in some dangerous crosshairs.

The rest of the world seems to be having earthquakes or suffering some other disaster. It's quite exhausting to consider it all.

The holiday season is upon us and I doubt that all that many people are focused on tinsel, needless gifts and fancy menus or other trivialities. The focus is on nourishing food, adequate medical care, surviving physical and emotional shocks, and seeking sound shelter on too-little money. That's demanding stuff with a need to breathe, weep, and reassess things again and again.

A medical, emotional or other crisis - you'd cry too, if it happened to you. Use your tissues and handkerchiefs with my blessings borne of experience. GOD gives you Permission to Weep. And you can say that to any critics after explaining that "It's MY Crisis! And I'll Cry if I Need To." See pages 4 and 5.
