The Book Sheryl Crow Needs to Read

B'SD

17 Sivan 5772

Anyone listening to or reading the news probably knows by now that singer Sheryl Crow has a Meningioma, the very form of benign brain tumor that almost KILLED me!

What are the odds that she'll avoid future complications NOT being addressed in this news item? I'd say low unless she has a far more astute neurologist and neurosurgeon on her medical team. The doctor quoted in this article makes dismissive comments, as if Meningiomas were as harmless as freckles. True, some people get past their Meningiomas easily. But others face deadly implications. Readers need to know that:

  •  Meningiomas tend to come in pairs
  • Crush nerves
  • Cause cognitive, vision, balance, hearing and other problems.
  •  One Meningioma can hide behind the other and not be detected on MRIs
  • Necessary surgery or Stereotactic Radiation treatments can cause secondary problems
  • The potential for further, crippling damage to the person with the hidden tumor is BIG
  •  Meningiomas can cause death

What a waste of an opportunity to educate the masses, FOX News.

For some of us mortals, Meningiomas can present life and death situations.

That's a medical CRISIS worth crying over.

A medical crisis - you'd cry too, if it happened to you. Use your tissues and handkerchiefs with my blessings borne of experience. GOD gives you Permission to Weep. And you can say that to any critics after explaining that "It's MY Crisis! And I'll Cry if I Need To." Show them page 5 of the book to prove your point.

The Baltimore Sun did a better job of presenting an overview of Meningiomas at Brain Tumor Facts

How to Recover from CRPS/RSD

B'SD

28 Shvat 5771

CRPS/RSD is in the news:
CRPS - a Mysterious and Debilitating Pain Disorder. I sympathize with the sufferers. I once had it and feared losing my entire arm - even my life - from the after-effects. Thank GOD I recovered. Newcomers to this blog might not have discovered my cure for it: laughter.

CRPS is agony. Some doctors pronounce it with an "A" and no "S" at the end. Why? Cuz that's how the patient feels. Like ----.

See this
Laughing My Way to Better Health post and read about one way to end the misery.

You can let Dr. Paul Christo of Johns Hopkins know about all this when he discusses Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) on February 9th.

Scroll around this blog for other CRPS/RSD-related posts in March 2008. Feel better soon, with my blessings.

Read the whole story of how I healed from CRPS/RSD in E-book EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge.

My Book Beat Medical Professionals to the Deadline!

B'SD

20 Mar-Cheshvan

Sometimes I am taken aback to discover just how valuable my book can be. That sense of surprise happens when Mass Media relates medical news or warnings to the public and I realize that MY BOOK ALREADY ADDRESSED THE TOPIC.

What made me catch my breath today, a year and a half after the publication of It's MY Crisis! And I'll Cry if I Need To? The Baltimore Sun newspaper just ran an article about how to prevent medication mistakes for people on several medicines at home or in a hospital. This advice is especially important for elderly patients (not just for the elderly, but especially for them. Younger readers can also benefit from the advice).

Check out
Expert advice: Medication misuse.

My book addresses the problem on pages 36, 37 and 70. Readers of any age can protect themselves from medication errors by reading the information there.

As I've mentioned before on this blog, I highly recommend that you
BUY MY BOOK TODAY to find out what other important information you need LONG BEFORE anyone else lets you in on it.

As my link for professional writers indicates, I'm a savvy and quite successful researcher. My book is filled with information YOU NEED. Click HERE, then on View Full Profile to see what I mean.

Parents on Medical Rounds!

10 Iyar 5768

Here's a nifty article about adding family to the medical care team:
Patients' Parents Get a Place in Hospital Rounds.

The wisdom of this innovation applies to patients of any age. Letting sensible, well-behaved family and friends confab with the medical team makes extremely GOOD SENSE! Loved ones know the patient best.

I suggest printing out that article and politely sharing it with your doctors, placing it on bulletin boards throughout hospitals and medical offices.

Patient Empowerment is something I've long advocated, especially with my book. Finally, the people who know the patient best have a voice!

Speaking of Patient Empowerment, check out the National Institute of Health's press release about Annual Food Allergy Awareness Week!

I know, you weren't aware that one exists.
But that's what my book and blog are all about: informing you of great resources so you can make intelligent choices and take charge of improving your health!
