Some Rumors Result in Positive Interactions

B'SD

25 Tishrei, 5779

Mainstream news media is far too often preoccupied with rumors and innuendos that only hurt people even though they're innocent of wrongdoing. Read on for a story about a rumor that turned out to be true and to the believer's benefit!

Here's a sample of some real-time interaction with someone who learned of the EMPOWER Yourself book by having heard of my miraculous recovery, then finding me on a facebook forum for meningioma sufferers (the event was about a rumor that went in a positive direction):

Question for the PC/CPA veterans: If you have lasting deficits from your treatment, are they consistent with what you were warned could be the risks posed by treatment?
Comments

Yocheved Golani YES. I was warned that I'd have double vision IF I stopped being blind, and possibly trigeminal nerve issues. I've ended one problem and the other is still resolving. I take physical therapy classes once weekly to minimize balance issues due to the decreasing double vision.

My emerging sense of what the consulting doctors could do is to be comprehensive in the scope of warnings/disclosures, be clear about things that while possible are unusual/remote risks, tell us if there will be reason to hope for progress and what supSee More

Yocheved it strikes me that you seemed so medically literate before your diagnosis/crisis. You have a real command of narrative, and would have great advice for how to proceed with developing a PC/CPA-targeted summary for new patients to work with? Ideas welcome! I'd love to pull together a few information resources (the "not benign" draft letter for anyone wanting to appeal for research funding, and a "briefing" for new PC/CPA patients on questions/considerations to help get the most out of their medical appointments are just concepts right now, but gathering ideas. I've got about 6 months before we sell our house and move, and I thought I might work on a few rainy day projects along these lines while I can. Next year, might be less available.

Yocheved Golani I've been a Health Information Management professional for decades and poured the healing information I knew into the EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge print and E- book http://tinyurl.com/mycrisis-book - stuff that laypeople would never guess could exist.

It's beyond sad that the medical world is not prepared to share significant amounts of healing information with patients. I've lost count of how many doctors from around the world have interviewed me (face to face!) so they could learn the techniques that I used - allegedly to help their patients. I'm not aware that any of those professionals are recommending what worked for me, though NORA of course, has been recommending their vision-repair knowledge since day 1 of its existence. https://noravisionrehab.org/

Why Readers Buy the EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge Book

B'SD

17 Av, 5778

The other day I enjoyed lunch with several new acquaintances. Someone in the crowd asked me to briefly explain why people read my book.

I replied that they find information that they need for surviving medical and/or mental health crises. I learned that information while working as a Health Information Management professional over the years, finding out about charitable and medical organizations that pay some or all of a patient's expenses . "I also teach coping skills, and know far more about psychology than the average layman," I added.

Then I paraphrased a brief author's biography that I share with editors of my journalistic work:

Survivor of a deadly brain tumor that had blinded her, Yocheved Golani relied on her Health Information Management background, her ever-evolving optimism and belief in a benevolent GOD plus a sense of humor to recover from severe setbacks. She teaches readers and listeners how to calm down and to simplify complex issues step-by-step with her highly acclaimed book  It's MY Crisis! And I'll Cry If I Need To: EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge

That someone in the crowd then bought the book and asked me to sign her copy.

Update: Will I Get an Online Byline?

B'SD

9 Adar 1, 5776

I've spent time enjoying time with friends and traveling a bit. And I've been contacted about pending employment once again, a possible slot as an online journalist aka radio show hostess. It was the result of having a journalism background accented with a health information management background.

The job interview was amusing.

The station engineer called me to do an online job interview and in the middle of business-related remarks, caught me off-guard with a medically-related question. I gave him appropriate information within seconds and asked "What is all that clicking noise in the background?"

He responded "You're wearing great headphones. I recorded your response as if you'd be on the air. You have poise, quick access to information and a soothing voice. Stand by. We're deciding if we'll give you your own medically related show, or have you report the news."

I'll keep you posted of progress. Until then, I wonder, "Will I get an online byline?"

Meanwhile, I'm preparing my remarks for the May health forum to which I've been invited as a speaker. You can learn more about my professional life at my Health Forum profile.

Here's a photo from that trip I took recently.

Healthcare as a Commodity? Here's a Solution.

B'SD

14 Tishrei, 5774

Spell it as you prefer: Health care, healthcare or *~^%$#@!!!! (add an extra *¡¿₪£€&a;%$!!! if you wish)

Healthcare as a commodity has been a debate and a nerve-wracking reality for some time. PBS/Dr Marcia Angell have remarked on it. So have Seacoast, USNewsandWorld Report, and other venues.

A right, a privilege, whatever you choose to call it, health care has become a competitive activity.

Well, securing it has, anyway.

The question
is answered with humor and facts
at Quarks.

As I proceed with my ICD-10 medical coding studies, classmates and I learn about prohibitive insurance clauses and limitations, far more than I'd already known of or suspected.

Medical insurance issues are not a patient-friendly environment.

So I did something to minimize, perhaps solve, the problem.

Need to get out of the downward spiral?

Find resources you, a child or someone else need for quality

  • Medical care,
  • Medical appliances,
  • Medical transportation,
  • and other medical needs - worldwide - in the informative print or E-book edition of

Medical and mental health professional recommend it
on and off the cover.

So does a medical ethicist.

A medical crisis - you'd cry (or curse) too - if it happened to you.

Use your tissues and handkerchiefs with my blessings borne of experience. GOD gives you Permission to Weep. And you can say that to any critics after explaining that "It's MY Crisis! And I'll Cry if I Need To."

Then resolve to solve your problems as best you can.

Oh - here's How to BE CAREFUL when you buy a  drug discount card!
