Spring 2009 Update

1. I would like to share with you some exciting news. I will be receiving the Voices Award from Voices Against Brain Cancer (VABC). The Voices Award is given for dedication and charitable giving to brain cancer research and support. This award will be presented at VABCs fourth annual fundraising event, Sounding Off For A Cure, to be held on Thursday, June 4, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. The Musella Foundation has been working together with VABC to raise brain tumor awareness and to raise money for brain tumor research. We will be working together in October for the first ever Brain Tumor Awareness Day at the Nassau Coliseum for the home opener of the New York Islanders. (Save the date!). We recently awarded our first joint grant, for an exciting research project on a new, safer and more effective type of radiation for brain tumors, here on Long Island at Brookhaven National Lab. We hope to fund more research projects together in the future.

2. The Musella Foundation, along with the Brad Kaminsky Foundation and Unlocking Brain Tumors, has formed a new organization – the Grey Ribbon Crusade - to get brain tumor organizations and individuals to work together to speed up the search for the cure by quickly funding important research projects together. We now have 44 non-profit organizations (including VABC) and hundreds of individuals from all 50 states working together. Visit greyribboncrusade.org for details. 3. We are working with the members of the Grey Ribbon Crusade to launch the Brain Tumor Text Challenge, in time for Brain Tumor Awareness Month (May). 4. The Musella Foundation testifies at ODAC hearing for Avastin for Brain Tumors! I addressed the Oncologic Drug Advisory Committee on 3/31/2009 as one of the patient advocates. I presented data from our ongoing Brain Tumor Virtual Trial, along with 1,300 letters of support from our members, which helped sway the committee to vote unanimously for approval! The FDA will consider the ODAC vote and make a final decision by May 5th. You can see my testimony at http://virtualtrials.com/fda2009.cfm

Sounds like a cheer, right? Go Green, though, is good advice.

My schedule is filled with callers and in-office clients seeking my advice on how they can heal with natural dieting and lifestyle practices. According to this Gallup Poll MORE AMERICANS STRUGGLING THAN SIX MONTHS AGO, the phenomenon should be no surprise.

It's a BIG switch from the days when people scoffed at natural lifestyle practices, assuming only that odd people ate pesticide-free produce, sugar-free snacks and pure water, juice or tea. Maybe the failing American economy has at least one blessing in it: forcing people to eat healthier fare so they can avoid high hospital bills that they can't afford!

It Was a Standing-Room Only Scene When I Spoke About My Book Last Night!

One of my book's admirers and a fan of my public speaking style, Gila Kornblum, exclaimed "Thank you for your beautiful talk. How very entertaining and inspiring!" after I spoke last night at Jo's Club, a gym and health club in Ramat Bet Shemesh, Israel. It was an overflow, standing-room only crowd.

Embracing Life - A Journey into Healing

Words of Chizzuk from 2 Inspirational Women in Our Community

SUSIE ROSENFELD - A breast cancer survivor and highly-sought-after instructor of Yoga, will be sharing words of Chizzuk about her path back to normal life in Eretz Yisrael after her 2-year struggle with the disease.

YOCHEVED GOLANI - Author, journalist, Self-Help coach, and the survivor of multiple life-threatening medical issues, will share some of her techniques to help cope with medical challenges. You can also pick up a reduced-price copy of Yocheved's highly-acclaimed book, "It's My Crisis! And I'll Cry if I Need To: A Life Book that Helps You to Dry Your Tears and to Cope with a Medical Challenge."

The event should last for an hour, and will include time for questions and answers.

This Tuesday night at 8:30 at Jo's Club Jo's Club is located in the RBS A shopping center,right next to our good friends Merkaz Rakefet.

The event lasted well over that allotted hour as women competed to buy copies of my book before supplies ran out.

Who was in the audience? The adult children of the professor (a.k.a. the head of the mental health institute) who certified me as a skilled counselor. People from all walks of life, many of whom want me to speak in forums where others can also attend my presentation.
