Sukkot and Solutions to Medical Problems

B'SD

14 Tishrei, 5777

It's a busy holiday season. After 10 days of penitence and the resolve to do better, Jews worldwide are preparing for the festive Sukkot festival.

Through it all people have contacted me about their need for:

  • Information on how to get glass bottles that can spray or hold medication,

  • Learning who is the expert on this or that medical problem,

  • Charitable resources that exist for paying someone's HUGE medical bills,

  • and related matters.

I suggest that all of you find the answers to those exact questions, and others, in doctor-recommended

Once you order your copy, calm down with Naomi Shemer's lovely tune, Shlomit Builds a Sukka of Peace.

BTW, did you know that you can search online and in libraries about the medical properties of the etrog/citron used at Sukkot time?

I happen to make a delicious jelly from the fruit. It's hard work, but worth the flavor.

PS - Sukkot is not merely a holiday for the Jewish kids in the class. It's for everyone!

Good News for Americans with Fibromyalgia!

B'SD

8 Tishrey, 5777

Tomorrow night the Yom Kipur holiday begins. I'll join other Jews in begging GOD for worldwide mercy, forgiveness and patience. The High Holiday season is a focused time of introspection and resolve.

Looking forward to other upbeat developments, I'm pleased to be able to share some good news with a population that has been terribly under served by the medical and wider worlds:

The day that many fibromyalgia sufferers have been waiting for has finally come. Fibromyalgia is real and is now recognized as such by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the National Center for Health Statistics.

Effective October 1, 2015, fibromyalgia has its own diagnosis code that is included in the list of official diagnostic codes used by the U.S. healthcare industry including doctors, insurance companies and government agencies. ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification) is the most recent revision to the list of these codes that now includes fibromyalgia. Previously, doctors had to use a general code called “myalgia and myositis, unspecified.”

Have Kidney Stones? Rock a Roller Coaster!

B'SD

24 Elul, 5776

The old Jewish year is coming to a close, the new one about to begin (the night of October 2nd 2016). I'm focusing on happiness and growth in that transition time.

Here's something that I find uplifting: Adding to my potted garden with Hyssop in a glass blender (the motor burned out and the model is no longer made, so I put the container to good use).

Here's what YOU might find uplifting: Medical news with a load of laughter (here's the actual Journal of the American Osteopathic Association research report)!

Over the years numerous remedies have been prescribed to treat kidney stones, but until now climbing aboard a theme park roller coaster has not been one of them.
