How to Cope with, and Minimize, Inner Pain

One glance at the morning headlines left me with a need to shut off the input. So much crime and heartache. 

Having experienced both, I understand the agony in the hearts of many people. Someone in the midst of suffering that seems overwhelming, to the point of not being able to envision a sweeter future, is feeling pure agony.

I offer some insights that you might find inspirational and soothing from a speaker whose remarks and books I enjoy:

 "Emotions are a call to action."  

"The journey is the destination."

And to paraphrase a long lecture from this man, I'll add 

"A woman twisting

 in the throes of birth pains 

does not suffer. 

Yes she is in pain, 

but knowing that the pain 

is directed at producing a life, 

giving birth to another soul, 

fills her with pleasure. 

She is partnering with GOD

in the creation of life."

My thoughts on the matter: 

"All of us mortals 

who experience 
searing emotional pain

over some issue or event

are giving birth 

to the development 
of our souls.

Our inner strengths are galvanizing 

as our insights grow.

Yes we weep, 

but we come away

from such experiences

with greater emotional 

and spiritual power."

Do what you can to restore your weary spirits when you feel worn out and clueless. Reach out to trusted confidantes, and indulge in activities which soothe you.

Do not drown your pain in mindless, harmful activities. Let the pain alert you to the nobleness of your very self, of your integrity. 

Let it guide you to greater achievements.

Are Americans Sick of Living?

I read this Americans Retiring Later, Dying Sooner and Sicker In-Between... headline and wondered "What went wrong?"

America has been a leader of health statistics, from infancy up. Mortality rates were enviable, demonstrating excellent health care far into older ages than in previous decades. Interstate systems allow easy transportation of goods and services, the ports function well and mass media publicizes healthcare options. Foods and medicines have been plentiful. 

Granted, Obamacare has limited those healthcare options and many US residents did not keep the doctors they preferred.

But there's more to this dying sooner and getting sicker than ever story.

I ask that you respond to my question and let me know "What went wrong?" that Americans are now experiencing a declining life expectancy, and a deteriorating quality of life.

I have my suspicions about why Americans are sickening sooner than ever and at an alarming rate. The opioid epidemic signifies the underlying problem.

I hope to share some of my ideas tomorrow. I'll be happy to respond to your questions and comments then, too.

Here's How to Help Detroit Retirees

I did a triple-take when I read this headline:

Detroit may end health care coverage for retirees under 65, replace it with $125 monthly stipends

I can well imagine the sense of dread, panic and raw fear in the people who might be affected by this drastic move. 

$125.00 does not buy much health care. 

At retirement age, quality healthcare is usually Priority 1!

Considering the Confusion in California about Medicare Exchanges being Meaningless, more older Americans need to know how to obtain adequate health care. It's a matter of survival!

If I were in this situation, 

I'd be weeping.

Know a Detroiter or Californian who needs affordable quality medical care?

• Medication? 
• Medical transportation help? 
• Medical appliances? 
• Something else medical?

Alert them to pages upon pages of information about charitable organizations - worldwide - willing to pay for some or all of an applicant's medical necessities.
