A Health Information Management professional, I survived a life-threatening emergency with information that only a person of my professional experience would know. And I’m sharing it!
I'm back from a morning speaking engagement. My remarks were titled Fostering Medical Miracles. The crowd was quite interactive! People asked questions, responded to my remarks and sighed or gasped with me at specific intervals. Then they bought copies of the book.
Yes, my harrowing story turned out to be a miracle in the making. It can momentarily take your breath away to learn to the details.
It's a privilege to share insights about healing techniques that work. A blessing to be asked to address the pubic in this manner.

What better time to address health issues?
Please share your thoughts about the article I wrote regarding that Whole Health Forum which I'd blogged about previously. It was quite a ground-breaking event!
Ginat and Sheldon Rice presented Israel’s first-ever Whole Health Forum this past May 15 through 20th. The event for health-conscious English-speakers was held at the ecological Essene Farm in Even Sapir, outside Jerusalem. An international gathering of alternative/complementary healing practitioners, the forum included workshops about exercise, homeopathy, herbology, frequency meditation, reflexology plus other natural healing techniques. Panel discussions and other dynamic opportunities for healing let participants learn and make new friendships as they learned to improve their health. Board-certified doctors were among the presenters and participants.
Audience members at Wednesday night’s panel discussion about healing learned that doctors used to decide on the course of treatment for patients, considering it to be merciful to withhold “Your condition can be fatal” information that could upset already distraught people. One panel member mentioned that he learned the truth in a library book. Another mentioned her agony after learning that her doctors had been ordered to convince her that she had a psychological disorder rather than a fatal diagnosis, so that she’d die calmly on psychiatric medication. “Calm? I suffered pain and debilitating problems and almost died from medical neglect while being verbally abused, denied the chance to recover by accessing other forms of therapy! Attempting to force a death sentence on me wasn’t mercy, it was cruelty.” The audience also learned of the medical world’s evolving “care versus cure” perspective. It distracts patients from realizing that western medicine can’t cure some problems. It is transforming medical “care” into “maintenance” rather than “recovery,” and still resisting documented evidence of natural healing techniques.

B'SD 11 Iyar, 5776 Last night I addressed the Whole Health Forum audience as one of several people presenting a panel discussion about healing. My opening remarks appear below. I was gratified that they were well-received and delighted to learn that some listeners have read
In 2005 I was diagnosed with a benign, skull-based tumor that blinded and almost killed me. GOD, the surgeon, my friends and specific alternative healing strategies helped me to see again. We made medical history. Life lessons were involved. So was my sense of humor.
I wrote this book because I wanted to do people a favor by alerting them to healing possibilities and cutting-edge medical developments, sharing spiritual insights, and letting readers know of world wide organizations willing to pay part or all of your specific medical expenses. EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge shares many ideas, one of which can be explained this way:
Viktor Frankl said "When we are no longer able to change a situation we are challenged to change ourselves." I'd like to add, "When you’re going through hell, look for the exit. Or create one."
All of us are here to heal. It might be physically, emotionally, mentally and/or spiritually. As you move through the throngs of people and exhibits, you feel an energy coursing through and around you. Use it. Memorize it. Cradle it. That energy can motivate you when you're feeling drained, clueless, and hopeless long after the event.
As we move through our healing experiences, we grow in insights, compassion for ourselves and others. We recognize the need for developing a support network of friends, relatives, acquaintances, plus medical and complementary healing practitioners. We learn not to assume, but to observe, to wonder, to be in awe. Respect, on many different levels, becomes one with our identities. The universe is filled with answers. It beckons us, challenges us to grow, even as we hardly realize that we are growing during our agony. That is Av HaRakhamim, the Compassionate GOD, Rofeh Cholim, the Healer, at work.
Accept the invitation. Fulfill your destiny as a spiritual creature. Let wonder fill your soul. Let the wonder heal you. The adventure is a gift from GOD, though it sometimes feels like a punishment. It's not. It is a path. Humanity tends to berate itself. But HaShem's nature, so to speak, is to forgive. Take Her/His lead. Go, find yourself in the universe, with every bit of your pain, doubt and fear. Access the healing powers that GOD put there. The goal is to grow your soul. Open your eyes, your mind, your gut and your heart to healing possibilities. Learn to laugh again. Find the love that awaits you. GOD put it there.
Other speakers on the panel then presented their stories. One is a board-certified surgeon who'd cured himself of Rheumatoid Arthritis with a macrobiotic diet. He decried the limited worldview of his western medicine colleagues who denied that connection of food to health. He briefly described actual vignettes of how doctors deny, ridicule or ignore documented evidence of healing fostered with vegan, vegetarian or macrobiotic diets, plus evidence that organic food promotes health better than adulterated non-organic food. The saddest story was about a patient who'd recovered from agonizingly painful and debilitating Crohn's Disease with a macrobiotic diet. Her gastroenterologist insulted her intelligence by insisting that food has no impact on the digestive system, that it was the medicine he'd prescribed which had cured her. He did not reply when the woman laid out her unused medication before him. Food is irrelevant to health. Such a stance is no better than believing that the sun does not cause sunshine. Other panelists chimed in with proof that adulterated food filled with herbicides, pesticides, preservatives, and other noxious chemicals undermine human health, and that their own deadly types of cancer abated due to improved diets. I remarked that when I asked the director of a cutting-edge cancer treatment center why his facility is being built, he responded that "Cancer rates are growing. Lifestyles are responsible for that." I responded with a request that he save lives and money by making Public Service Announcements. He could tell the public that synthetic hygiene products, excessive sun exposure, adulterated food stripped of nutrition but filled with poison and other avoidable causes of cancer be eliminated from public consumption. He gave me a demeaning look as if to say "You sweet dumb idiot." Then he said, "The public will never understand or accept that." I disagree. Do you need to be told that you'll sicken and probably die if you eat rat poison? Raw sewage? Spoiled meat? The group also discussed the medical world's tendency to withhold information from patients, believing that it's merciful to refrain from informing people that they might die or are dying and that it is "only" appropriate to share such news closer to the prognosticated date of death, when symptoms can no longer be denied. THAT is a demeaning point of view. It robs people of the opportunity to handle their own affairs, to save their own lives or at least try to. Worse, it is a lofty excuse for pulling off a crime. If doctors cannot deal with the emotional ramifications of dealing with sad, frightened patients, then medical schools ought to teach necessary lessons. And arrogant practitioners should leave the "healing" profession that they undermine. I pray that knowledgeable people will hold Getting to Know You events that foster educational interactions with medical professionals, alternative/complementary healing professionals and survivors who ended their agony by changing their eating patterns and other lifestyle factors, and went on to live more pleasant, productive lives for the effort. Change usually comes slowly, hence a need to make and to expect gradual changes. But... ... as death rates rise from the poisoned food supply, a need to alert the public that eating just might be a suicidal activity becomes imperative. May blessings come your way. B'SD 12 Tevet, 5776 My kitchen smells wonderful. Friends tasted samples and asked me to take a picture of today's finished products. They ferment 2 days before they're ready to eat).

B'SD 1 Tevet, 5776 Today's the first of the Jewish month Tevet. It's a time of return to the better self, and for redefining our best interests. I mention this because a heaviness in my heart motivates me to share the following thought with you. I do medical writing for various clients and reasons. I recently interviewed relevant people about the construction of a 4-storey, state-of-the-art, cancer treatment center. I asked why it would be necessary, The quotes I gathered in response include a medical expert's remark that "Present lifestyles are causing increasing amounts of cancer in every age category." I asked if medical practitioners know which activities tend to cause cancer, and was stunned to hear the experts list food additives, hygiene products, specific sexual activities, excessive exposure to tanning beds, insufficient medical care, and other things that are rather easily addressed. Even babies are being born with cancer because their parents indulge in products or lifestyles conducive to causing cancer.

B'SD 5 Av, 5775 The Jewish month of Av is full of somber thoughts and images. Personal reflections are an integral part of the pre-Rosh Hashana season. I just joined a health-oriented listserv, and compacted my health plus healing story into a few paragraphs. The timing was conducive to some introspection. If you're new to this blog, or familiar with it, here are some of the main points I shared in the above-referenced message:
My story in brief: ... In February 2005 I awoke completely blind, and very physically weak.
To make a long story short, I underwent life-saving emergency brain surgery in August 2005. Surgeons removed a benign brain tumor called a Petroclival Tentorial Meningioma. It had crushed my optic nerves and badly damaged other nerves.
Western medical experts doubted that I would survive the ordeal let alone ever see again. I consulted with expert naturopaths. Under their guidance I became an organic vegetarian in 2006, and beat big odds. I am a rarity in the medical world, having recovered my vision - which keeps improving - after that specific diagnosis and setback. I am also physically active.
A former supervisor of medical coding who wrote feature stories about medical experts and their innovations plus other medically-related topics, and someone quite familiar with teaching calming techniques (I eventually earned counseling skills certification), I used a knowledge base about healing and centering unknown to average laymen. I remained composed despite horrific fears, physical pain and unknowns (most of the time, anyway. I definitely advocate the need to cry so that a person can go forward despite emotional turmoil).
I wrote a book about how to cope with medical challenges. Published in 2009, updated in 2011, it received cover praises from medical and mental health professionals http://booklocker.com/books/3067.html. People around the world LUV the motivational and healing information in the book plus the Global Resources section that clues you in to worldwide organizations willing to pay some or all of your specific medical bills.
Organic foods and a natural lifestyle restored my vision plus my physical strength (I had needed to learn how to speak again, how to walk, how to use my hands and arms, etc).
However, I still see double and have difficulty getting my eyes to move together. My eyes move at different speeds, as do the eyelids. One of those lids had been paralyzed. Craniosacral treatment ended the problem, restored symmetry to my face and ended post-surgical pain that could have been life-long.
The prescription for my glasses has dropped 18 times since going organic vegetarian in 2006. Ridding my body of toxins allowed damaged nerves and muscles to heal. My sight improves daily, and my health - according to medical experts - rivals that of women half my age, thank GOD.
In February 2015 I became vegan. That has provoked a most unexpected development: More and very rapid recovery of my sight. I'm at the threshold of ending double vision due to damaged optical nerves plus not needing glasses anymore. I'd like for that to happen with my 10th anniversary of a life-saving event. It would be a miracle. I believe that I can coax that miracle along with a macrobiotic diet.
I've spoken all over Israel, in the USA, on TV, radio and online media about my unusual recovery and coping mechanisms. I remain available for motivational speaking engagements as I maintain my content provider business (I edit other people's writings and prepare speeches, brochure, website, plus journalistic content for various clients).
I look forward to interacting with the rest of you either online or in person.

Notice the unusual date on today's blogpost: The Jewish month is literally Adar 1 as this is a Jewish leap year with an Adar 2 coming up next month!
Adar is a time of special joy when Persia's (and much of the known world's) Jews were spared mass annihilation by a crooked government minister (sounds familiar, huh?) who'd been guilty of headline-worthy crimes.
Jews around the world celebrate the miracle with a holiday called Purim. It calls for costumes, the retelling of the Purim story (the whole megilla!) and much silliness (plus a serious sense of marvel at the miraculous end of Iraq's Israel-aimed Scud Missile War).
At any rate, lots of hi-calorie foods are shared in packaged gifts, then served at celebratory meals later in the Purim-fest day. But diners usually regret having packed on the calories despite the good-natured fun.
Here's a HEADS UP:
YOU (and everyone else in the world) have time - an extra month - to prepare better menus for Purim and any occasion.
