Staying Grounded and Joyous Despite Inner or Outer Pain

B'SD

11 Tamuz, 5775

One of the things I advocate for well-rounded emotions is having a hobby. I enjoy several, and thought to let you have a look at some of my dried flower arrangements

 and candelabra plate

creations.

Care to guess which hobby I longed to resume though 2005 brain surgery had resulted in my surgically broken jaw (and my need to learn how to speak, all over again)?

There's a reason that I whistle as I walk. I've needed to strengthen my damaged emboucher (the relevant muscles of my face and lips) so that I can resume flute-playing.

As of this past April, I've been able to get sweet sounds from my flute.

Now that I've recovered from moving across the country, I hope to hire a music instructor so I can play in a pleasant manner. Stay tuned for developments. I'm still thrilling to the fact that my recent singing performance was well-received despite a long time off the community theater stage.

Please share the fun. Let me know what you do to stay grounded and joyous despite inner or outer pain.

Making the Case for Case Managers

B'SD

6/7 Tamuz, 5775

I'm sharing an important FYI with you. I just posted it to one of my facebook pages.

THIS is why patients need case managers, advocates, friends & relatives speaking up for them! ‪#‎malpractice‬ http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/…/when-doctors-dont-talk-to…/…

Poor communication between doctors and patients is discussed relatively frequently. But what about confusion between the teams of doctors who share patients in the hospital?

BIG News for Anyone with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Giant Cell Arteritis!

B'SD

I'm thrilled to report that my presentation  - including my singing effort - was well received last night. Audience members shook my hands, embraced or kissed me. Some of them spent time chatting with me about how the lessons I spoke of addressed their needs.

I was NOT expecting that sort of reaction. I'd been suffering stage fright as it was, hours earlier. Ah, well, I'm pleased to know that forging on paid off for everyone.

I have other news to share,
concerning BIG news for sufferers of
Rheumatoid Arthritis and Giant Cell Arteritis:

What began as a chat between husband and wife has evolved into an intriguing scientific discovery. The results, published in May in BMJ (formerly British...

Eyesight, Hindsight and Foresight: Putting Life into Sweet Perspective

B'SD

1 Tamuz, 5775

Today begins a new Jewish month. That means lots of potential for goodness.

There are related spiritual lessons too long to present here, but here's a summary of a few important points for non-Jewish and Jewish readers of this blog and the EMPOWER Yourself book: Tamuz is an opportunity to heal the way we look at life, to heal our physical and spiritual eyes.

Let's continue that line of thought with a message I shared on facebook yesterday:

If you know me in real life, then you can just about hear me repeating my maxim: "When life goes kerflooey in ways I could not have imagined nor controlled, then I know that GOD has a BIG ace up that heavenly sleeve. I'll get what I need by hanging on with all my might and without 'losing it.' BIG blessings are heading my way. I look forward to finding out what they'll be."

Whew, it's been a Busy Month!

B'SD

29 Sivan, 5775

Whew, it's been a busy month of enjoying concerts and preparing to speak before a focus group tomorrow night. I'll be completing my remarks with a sing-a-long. This comes on the heels of an amusing experience.

I traveled from Jerusalem to Beersheva the other day, sitting with opera singer Isabelle Marie Haas who recently performed in Beersheva. I mentioned that I'd be singing a particular song to a group of people in a few days and that I was nervous about doing a good job. I asked her for some tips.

We laughed together because jitters are the sign of people who are focused on doing a good job. She asked me to sing the song, and joined in. At one point she stopped, listened to me singing alone and said that I have a nice voice. She only corrected me on one note.

My life is almost complete. I have performed with a singer of renown ;^ )

Back to you. I found an article worth pondering. Please click on the icon and read...

Grateful to be Blessed

B'SD

27 Sivan, 5775

I've been busy with personal projects, friends who arrived from overseas, and life in general. This blog has been silent while I've been occupied with that.

Let's break the silence together. I'd like to share a sweet thought with you about how to keep achievements, failures, disappointments and blessings in perspective:

I dreamed that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around. We walked  side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels. My angel guide  stopped in front of the first section and said, "This is the Receiving  Section. Here, all petitions to G - d said in prayer are received."

I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from  people all over the world.

Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached the second section.

The angel then said to me, "This is the Packaging and Delivery Section. Here, the blessings the people asked for are processed and delivered to the persons who asked for them."

I noticed again how busy it was there. There were many angels working hard at that station, since so many blessings had been requested and were being  packaged for delivery to Earth.

Finally at the farthest end of the long corridor we stopped at the door of a very small station. To my great surprise, only one angel was seated there, idly doing nothing. "This is the Acknowledgment Section," my angel  friend quietly admitted to me. He seemed embarrassed.

"How is it that there is no work going on here?" I asked.

"So sad," the angel sighed. "After people receive the  blessings that they asked for, very few send back acknowledgments."

"How does one acknowledge G - d's blessings?" I asked.

"Simple," the angel answered. Just say, "Thank you . .."
"What blessings should they acknowledge?" I asked.

"If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy."

"And if you get this on your own computer, you are part of the 1% in the world who has that opportunity."

"If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the many who will not even survive this day."

"If you have never experienced the fear in battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead  of 700 million people in the world."

"If you can attend a church/synagogue without the fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are envied by and more blessed than three billion people in the world."

"If you can hold your head up and smile, you are not the norm. You're unique to all those in doubt and despair."

"Okay. What now? How can I start?'

If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you as very special, and you are more blessed than  over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

Have a good day. Count your blessings. And if you care to, pass this along to remind everyone else how blessed we all are.

  ATTNAcknowledge Dept.

"Thank you G - d  for giving me the ability to share this message and for giving me so many wonderful people with whom to share it."

If you have read this far, and are thankful for all that you have been blessed with, how can you not send it on? I thank G - d for everything, especially all my family and friends.
