YOU are Your Own BEST Medical Advocate!

B'SD

12 Adar, 5778

The reason that EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge advises you that "YOU are your own best advocate" is clearly explained in a recent New York Times article!!!

The Power of Optimism

B'SD

8 Adar, 5778

Whew, the happiness of Purim  culminates next week (Wednesday night and Thursday for most people this year, Thursday night and Friday for Jews in Jerusalem). I'm hanging on to that as sad headlines fill newscasts.

About feeling down... Plato had something to say about that.

Let's look at life from a different angle, to cheer up a bit, OK?

I want to share some nice news. This past summer, the neuro-ophthalmologist following my case (recovery from total blindness due to crushed optic nerves, and very compromised health) made an announcement dictated into my official medical records. He indicated that none of the staff members had had a clue how to help me to see again once the BENIGN brain tumor had been removed after crushing my optic and other nerves. However, "full credit goes to the patient who invested in alternative healing techniques" and recovered her vision and strength (I do aerobics, swim, bike, work, and have a social life). She had faith in herself and her future, and figured out how to restore her sight.

Read about what I'd done to heal, how and why other ill people can mimic those actions and mindsets to heal as well as they can, too.

How to Persevere PAST PAIN, No Drugs Involved!

B'SD

Adar 3, 5778

You might have read any of my several articles and op-eds about America's opioid epidemic. I am convinced that the core of the problem is a need to know coping mechanisms, and to feel comfort with them.

This news update reminded me of the necessity to be able to deal with physical and/or emotional pain without drugs:

Connecticut Medical Examiner’s Office Struggling To Keep Up With Deadly Overdoses

I'm not in some ivory tower, folks, I speak from experience. Remember when I recovered from debilitating RSD/CRPS several years ago? It was a matter of choice, focus and effort. My medical team was stunned at the speed and thoroughness of my recovery and alerted their other patients to my innovative technique (some of them bought the book to understand me and the healing processes that I use a bit better!).

Each of us has different chemistries and needs. Different pain-fighting techniques work for one person, perhaps not for another.

Seek out and use what works for you.

Do not succumb to drug dependence. Drugs are great for getting over hurdles and preventing harm. But when they become a source of harm, we need to rely on user-friendly resources instead.

Click on some of your options, below. Look for others as necessary.

Blessings in the Universe.

Read about how natural healing techniques restored my sight, strength, and abilities and what those life lessons just might do for you!

The book holds information about FOODS that fight pain.

9 year Guaifenesin Protocol progress report by Laurie Sussman

by Christine
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia back in 1997 after a horrible car accident. My neurologist at the time sent me for every test in the book and then some, before she made the diagnosis.  I struggled with teaching for the next 10 years, sometimes wearing braces on my arms or back to keep upright, and sometimes without full vision in one eye from the fibromyalgia.

America Needs Mental/Emotional Health Curricula: A Call to Action

B'SD

30 Shvat/1 Adar, 5778

The first of Adar is usually a joyous time, heralding the Purim holiday soon to come. But instead of smiling, I weep and shudder with thousands if not millions of people grieving over a recent school shooting in Florida.

You've read some of my articles about mental health at the e-counseling site. Did you know that...

I have advocated for mental /emotional health skills curricula in schools and businesses for decades. There is ample proof that too many people lack them. By the time a nervous breakdown or school shooting happens, the signs of mental health missing in action have long been evident. Western society brings in the shrinks far too late to have saved lives ruined for a lack of familiarity and comfort with mental /emotional health techniques.

Folks, this is NOT an issue about gun control.

Distraught people can use any weapons of opportunity be they vehicles such as terrorists use to run over pedestrians and concert goers, knives, explosives, fists, chemicals, etc. The problem is a messed up mind, not ammunition.

I've written about the horror before, to put it into perspective. Read No Quick Fixes.

Mental health curricula in schools and at the workplace need support from legal authorities. Necessary follow-up to protect the public from potentially harmful people is called for.

Nikolas Cruz's threat to society was clearly not handled that way.

Mental health professionals and law enforcement professionals must work together to create sensible, productive protocols. Interventions that prevent loss of life and other forms of suffering, are necessary.

Do what you can to promote mental and emotional health lessons in your part of the world. Lives depend on that.

Calm  down over your medical issues with a book that mental health professionals recommend.

Power Up Your Positive Emotions. Here's How!

B'SD

29 Shvat, 5778

A positive mindset is critical for anyone's health.

I completely appreciate the frustration, pain and efforts that anyone must invest in developing that attitude as life hits us with an onslaught of problems and unexpected complications.

No, I'm not in some ivory tower. I have felt problems and unexpected complications, even heartache, too. I made firm, repeated decisions to overcome them. According to the people around me, that focus seems to have paid off.

If you need a reminder of how to promote a sense of optimism No Matter What, please read the thought-provoking, inspirational, and sometimes Laugh Out Loud content in doctor-recommended

Putting Pelvic Organ Prolapse, Carob, Hymenectomy & many Medical Outcomes together in One Informative Blogpost!

B'SD

17 Shvat, 5778

I thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Tu B'Shvat with friends, and amusing Talmud study classmates with a relevant home made treat this week. Here's the gluten-free recipe, full of amounts that I used. But you can choose whatever seems appropriate to you the preparer (you choose how much to use of everything, depending on the size of the crowd you'll feed):

Yocheved's Sno-balls
Ingredients:
1 package Carob
 powder

6-12 chopped
 Mint leaves

1 teaspoon Negohot
honey

half a can of
Coconut creme

Shredded coconut
as needed.

Use LOTS of arm power to mix the batter (everything except the shredded coconut), then use
MORE arm power to roll the rounds
in shredded coconut
(it's a VERY messy recipe BTW).

Place the rounds in a freezeable container,
then store it on a freezer shelf.

Eat at will on hot, humid days when
you need a refresher, and whenever you wish.

Mind the calories. I'm a bit timid about calculating them!

Back to business:

I have been busy editing some more medical research documents, and learned fascinating information about solutions to uterine-preserving Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) procedures, plus The Impact of Hymenectomy on Future Gynecological and Obstetrical Outcomes.

It is a pleasure and a privilege to work with experts who trust me to prepare their findings for publication.

It is an indescribable joy to know the information that I can share with people who need it as I pursue my life coaching of ill people.

I've been striving to help several people with a variety of health issues these past few weeks.

One of the best things that I can recommend is to anyone experiencing illness is to follow up on the need to refresh emotionally and physically drained realities. Cheer yourself on with motivating mottoes, posters and people.

Need ideas about how to do that?
