Can-do Emotional Strength Lessons: The Lesson Plan

B'SD

5 Kislev, 5778

I've done life-coaching work with ill people since recovering from my medical setbacks (I earned my counseling credentials before and after life-saving surgery).

We focus on the choices that my clients can make, the resources available to them, and their need to bolster a sense of courage.

They tend to do quite well, achieving newly identified goals and increased inner strength before we complete our 6 meetings.

As I interact with people in my coaching efforts, public speaking engagements and private encounters over the years, however, I've realized that many people simply do not know how to feel courageous.

Basic concepts about
how to develop courage
 are missing
from pubic awareness.

Yes, clergy of various faiths teach about emotional and spiritual strength, but the lessons are not helping all that many people. The opioid crisis around the world illustrates the reality: People find it hard or impossible to deal with emotional turmoil and physical pain.

There are can-do solutions for the average person. I've written about that before.

Nobody has to be born impervious to unhappiness to overcome it.

I'm preparing a proposal to teach emotional fortitude in schools, business sites and other venues, in order to repair the problem as much as I can. My goal is that people will learn how to increase their emotional strength in innovative, user-friendly ways.

I welcome your thoughts about that.

What do YOU believe
that people need to learn
in order to be strong?

And HOW do you believe
that courage can be taught?

You can share your ideas in the "comment" icon below this blogpost, or send them to me via giveretgolani@gmail.com.

Go ahead, grab some paper,
jot down your ideas and
please share them with me.

TIA!

Who Can Help with Health Crisis Issues?

B'SD

22 Tevet 5770

Readers, it literally brings tears to my eyes when I receive touching messages about how my manuscript helps people in expected, and in unexpected, ways.

Here's an E-mail message that arrived to my monitor last night:

"I recently came across your
new workbook and although I have
not read through it completely,
it looks like a wonderful tribute
and very useful resource.

I have come across MANY coaches,
worldwide, who are working as
Health Coaches and only two
who work with health crisis issues,
you and one other!

I am in the process of developing
a systematic approach to dealing
with those precious souls
who are afflicted so severely
with the intention of focusing
my Coaching talents in this area.

Could you please direct me to
the work of others who Coach
in this area?

Have you any pearls of wisdom for me?

Would you be interested in assisting me
in my thinking as my approach
takes shape...?

Thanks -
Chris Boyd
Man Alive Foundation: Cape Town S. Africa"

Here's my reply to Chris. It came from the depths of my heart:

Thank you for contacting me, Chris.
The only pearls of wisdom
I can share are:

"1. The supply of health-crisis coaches
depends on people with sharp personal
insight, knowing from the gut what the
fear, pain and obstacles can be and
personal experience at solving
those problems. It's not a field for
theories/speculation.

2. The dread that the average person has
of death and illness pretty much
limits the possibilities for studying
the discipline of health coaching.
You necessarily deal with
death and dying issues,
prohibitive expenses,
gut-wrenching decisions,
heartache and other forms of pain.

It takes nerves of steel
and
gentle hearts to study and coach,
or to experience all that.
And a LOT of inner work.

We can keep a dialogue going if you wish."

What do YOU think of the above exchange, readers?

Bear in mind that coaching is designed for short-term relationships that focus on defining/setting goals and on making a better use of time, rather than on long-term situations and life/death issues that generally leave far too little time for reflection, research and budgetary boosts (financial crises abound with medical issues).

Lifesaving, Emotionally Rewarding, Funny & Helpful from Cover to Cover!

B'SD

12 Tishrei 5770

When my Self-Help Coaching clients or fans of my book ask me how I helped myself to recover from devastating medical problems, and what YOU need to do to cope with your medical situation, I reply:

"I look at what's going right, NOT at what's going wrong with a given situation. I do the same with clients of my Self-Help Coaching services. My brain - and yours - already knows what went kerflooey. No reminders are necessary. By reassessing the situation, we seek out what works as a coping mechanism, then build on that. Capitalizing on and expanding existing skills and insights builds resilience, teaching you how to be strong and how to expand strengths you already have."

Sounds kind of dull, hmmm? The dancing, traveling, gardening, laughing, sports, hobbies

and strength-building I do and advocate sure aren't.

Want to read a fun book that teaches you all that and never gets tired of repeating the lesson?

AND can save you lots of money with the Global Resources section in the back?

How to Believe in Yourself

B'SD

29 Mar-Cheshvan 5769

In today's post I am fulfilling a promise to a dear friend. Here we go:

A significant part of my technique in coping with adversity is the nurturing of my sense of self. It is the key to anyone's ability to cope.

"I am."

Those are words I use to grasp the solution to any problem I face.

I am all the insights, experiences, victories and failures gained and experienced in my brief existence. Individually, they represent isolated segments of my reality. As a whole, they comprise my mindset, my worldview. This is true of you, too.

In my Self-Help Coaching practice, I emphasize that everyone needs (as in NEEDS) a conscious, accurate awareness of their core self. And everyone needs to groom their sense of self, to make it ever-better. Bumbling along with the rest of society, or with one's group of friends and acquaintances, perhaps with your relatives, is heart- and mind-numbing. The decision to NOT engage in critical thinking skills cannot advance growth in a human soul!

Conforming in order to be part of a group is fine and normal, to a degree. We call that "Cooperation." But to be in lock-step mimicry of what everyone around you is doing is to destroy your sense of "I." Nobody can keep up with the latest styles, be they food, fashion, physique or anything else. That is, they can't unless they seek to enslave themselves to fleeting whims.

Now, what if you are experiencing a health issue (medical or mental/emotional)?
Stuff most people don't understand?

As we face hardships that others do not experience, we learn life lessons about coping mechanisms that work. We learn about strategies that do not benefit us. We make future choices based on that.

Thinking and functioning on that level of awareness leads to spiritual and intellectual growth: the growing sense of "Hey, I can do this, that, the other. And I sure don't need to take the options that hurt me in the past." It allows us to behave with courage, generosity and compassion.

Such thinking makes you immune to superficial standards of "worth" based on appearances, wealth, fleeting standards of popular entertainment and value; the mental junk that wears you down. External tastes come and go. It is the integrity of the personality that stands the test of time.

Integrity enables you to help people in your personal world: friends, family, business associates. YOURSELF.

Jealousy, anger, frustration, confusion; they fall to the wayside. With enough practice of your ennobling personality traits, you begin to forget to think in a jealous, angry, frustrated or confused manner. You become permanently stable. You are not beholden to others for a sense of self-worth.

Your permanent sense of I-dentity leaves you peaceful, friendly, and adapative to challenges as they arise. It is a blessing. And the blessing grows with your personal practice of those uplifting characteristics. It lets you appreciate the One Above, too. That sense of appreciation becomes part of an empowering cycle.

Ah, one more thought: When I do Self-Help Coaching, I ask my clients lots of questions. Those questions provoke introspection. That leads to insights and solutions: the answers my clients seek. I do this because I KNOW: your answers lie within you. I'm willing to help you to find them.

Tech Talk at the Speed of Tachyons!

6 Tishrei 5768

Want to calm down after receiving a frightening medical diagnosis? Want to cope with the news to the best of your ability? Read on!

*************************************************************

Ever heard of those hard-to-photograph energy particles called Tachyons? Maybe you'll recall hearing about them in association with the String Theory gaining popularity in the science and real worlds. Well, the news about "It's MY Crisis!" is apparently zipping around the world and cyberspace at warp speed. Tachyons seem to be taking the news all over the place ;^ )

Authors need to promote their books and I've been busy selling mine. I touch base with radio show hosts, journalists, and lots of other people, worldwide, as I strive to get the word out about my psyche-saving book. One technique I use is simple E-mail. Another is fax. Posting publicity materials in high-visibility areas in my immediate locale helps, too.

Recipients of my E-mailed and faxed Media Release announcement about the book's publication have obviously been "forwarding" the message around cyberspace and real space. I've been receiving kudos from people I do and do not know. And book sales are going up with all the attention paid to my user-friendly message.

Here are some of the reactions I'm getting from around the wide, wide world:

Way to go!
- Mike Barnett

The book and your career sound remarkable, simply amazing. I will pass on this book's availability, now that it is out. It sounds so important! I will recommend it and recommend you as a life coach. Wonderful that you do such a service!
- Chana Tova Sokol

Sounds like another winner, YG! Should hit the NYT top ten pretty soon.
- Al Hattal http://www.biz2bizwriter.com/about.htm

Yiyasher KokhaKhaiKH for this important book. May it have the great success it deserves. I wish I were still reviewing for Publishers Weekly and Kirkus. We were both miraculously saved for a purpose.
- Isaac Mozeson, author of Origin of Speeches

Gosh, everyone I know says 'I shoulda' or 'I wish I had...' after they go through something big. You did it! You wrote a book that helps people to cope! It's amazing.
- Marla Braun

Wishing you hatzlocha (success) on your book and blessings for a sweet New Year filled with all good things.
-S. Greenbaum, creator of Partners in Kindness

The Book is Being Prepared for Sale as You Read this Update ;^ )

18 Av 5767, August 2 2007

It's a wonderful day in my writing life! Booklocker's staff is getting my book ready for international distribution as you read these words. And while your eyes are here, I want to add a BIG message of thanks to my wonderful, compassionate, intelligent and completely full of integrity publishers, Angela and Richard Hoy.

As soon as the URL for online purchases is ready, I will post it here. I will include information for bulk purchases at discounted prices.

That purchase information should make life simpler for business owners desiring to sell my book to clients. Several business owners have already contacted me to request such information. Yep, word is out around the world that "It's MY Crisis!" is a wonderful, inspiring read.

Expect to read my MEDIA RELEASE at this blog soon. I plan to send it to key people throughout broadcast and print media plus online news resources, and of course to the publishing, medical and mental health industries. A MEDIA RELEASE, by the way, is different from a press release. It is designed to be used by Internet sites, broadcast and print media, as well as by laypersons interested in receiving the information.

Information about the Life Coaching side of my life will be included with that Media Release and my forthcoming book.

Best of health to you and every blessing for goodness in your life,

Yojeved/Yocheved (see the left-hand margin for the reason why I spell my name two ways)

People Around the World Want Information From My Book! I Can Share it on Airwaves in Print and Online.

July 3, 17 Tamuz 5767

Soon after word was out in 2006 that I'd begun writing my book, people began contacting me to learn about its content. The phenomenon continues until today. These folks want to prolong or to save someone's life and the quality of that life.

A medical crisis affects everyone in the family, as well as the friends and colleagues of the affected individual.

I've been contacted by all kinds of people urgently seeking the coping skills information and the contact information for therapists with cutting-edge treatments/healing therapies that are in my book. Those seekers of information hail from the UK, Europe, the USA and Middle East. They are family, friends and other acquaintances of the ill person they wish to help.

The pace has increased since I gave my speech in Jerusalem. A man wants to save someone with a brain tumor in Belgrade, an American woman wants to find out new ways to treat breast cancer, someone in South Africa needs to know about above-average help for someone with ADD, an Irish lass wants to learn about still another form of rescue. I've even been asked to use my own Life Coaching skills on someone suffering mental anguish and I'm not even a therapist. That person heard about me from someone associated with my Life Coaching course, then remembered hearing about me after my recent speech in Jerusalem.

I welcome book store owners to contact me to speak about my book in their shops. Media people can schedule interviews with me. All you have to do is to send a message to giveretgolani@gmail.com.

Book reviews are already scheduled to appear in Israeli magazines and US newspapers.

Let your readers, listeners and viewers learn how to dry their tears and to cope better with a medical crisis. Contact me to schedule an interview appointment. I look forward to hearing from you!

If you wish to receive a Media Release with my publisher's information and more exciting news from me, let me know at giveretgolani@gmail.com.
