How to Enjoy Meals without Discomfort

B'SD

17 Adar 1, 5776

Ever have completely embarrassing reactions to the foods you eat, and wonder why that happens?

Rear Exhaust (what doctors call "flatulence" but most people call "farts") and other problems such as bloating, beelching or nausea are preventable.

The article below can educate you about how to prevent the problems.

One of the problems with our eating efforts these days are the competitive marketing and capable shipping industries. They provide the public with out-of-season foods that our bodies don't need and can't use.

Do yourselves a favor: Dine on the foods in season right where you live. That's nature, GOD's way of providing you with nourishment that enables you to cope with current weather conditions (e.g., moist fruits in hot, humid climates, cookable root vegetables, etc., in cold areas).

Life was simpler in the old days because contemporary lifestyles didn't suffer from mass marketing that focused on income rather than human health. Live simply. Reduce the stress on your soul and body.

Update: Will I Get an Online Byline?

B'SD

9 Adar 1, 5776

I've spent time enjoying time with friends and traveling a bit. And I've been contacted about pending employment once again, a possible slot as an online journalist aka radio show hostess. It was the result of having a journalism background accented with a health information management background.

The job interview was amusing.

The station engineer called me to do an online job interview and in the middle of business-related remarks, caught me off-guard with a medically-related question. I gave him appropriate information within seconds and asked "What is all that clicking noise in the background?"

He responded "You're wearing great headphones. I recorded your response as if you'd be on the air. You have poise, quick access to information and a soothing voice. Stand by. We're deciding if we'll give you your own medically related show, or have you report the news."

I'll keep you posted of progress. Until then, I wonder, "Will I get an online byline?"

Meanwhile, I'm preparing my remarks for the May health forum to which I've been invited as a speaker. You can learn more about my professional life at my Health Forum profile.

Here's a photo from that trip I took recently.

Care to Share Your Thoughts about Movie-making?

B'SD

6 Adar 1, 5776

Life remains pleasantly interesting this week.

I've been asked to appear in a documentary about brain tumor survivors. According to the producer, "It will be released and distributed in movie theatres worldwide, and broadcast by major TV Channels all around the globe."

Yes, it is a reputable company, one you'd recognize. The connection to me was made by a reputable individual whom I know in real life. I prefer not to share specific details just yet as no commitments have been made at this early date.

WHAT do you want to hear me say?

What do you want to know about surviving and facing brain tumors? You can even ask about the specific sort of brain tumor, a Petroclival Tentorial Meningioma, that I experienced.

Meningiomas come in many shapes and sizes, let alone locations in the brain. Sometimes they come in pairs.

It's the first week of Adar 1 (the Jewish calendar holds TWO - 2 - months of Adar this year) and the joyous month is already filling with happiness for me.

Ginat Rice of Whole Health Forum has invited me to speak as part of a panel discussion about healing at the Whole Health Forum fair scheduled for Wednesday May 18. I'll be appearing on the approximately 8PM-9:30PM panel

Ginat will be leading the discussion by asking each panel member to briefly tell our individual story and then to answer questions that she or the audience raises.

Here are details about the weeklong event, from one of my facebook pages:

I'll update you about any schedule changes.

Oh - if you're interested in knowing why I was invited, here's the explanation in brief. I had sent the following (excerpted)  message to Ginat. It resulted in that invitation mentioned above:

... My EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge print and E- book http://tinyurl.com/mycrisis-book book has sold worldwide since the first edition came out in 2009. The updated version became available in 2011. The 3rd updated edition is in preparation. The books explain how I went from blind to sighted following a benign brain tumor that crushed my optic and other nerves.

Doctors despaired that I would ever see again. I turned to the natural healing arts, and thrilled to the miracles that followed. One of them is my ever-lowered prescription for glasses. I'm now wearing the 21st pair prescribed since 2006. Each set of glasses is weaker than the last! I see better over time. My overall health rivals that of a woman half my age.

I'm certified in counseling skills by Refuah Institute and an experienced public speaker. If you'd like to have me speak about Empowering Your Coping Mechanisms, I'd be pleased to participate in the May 15-20 gathering for English speakers...

Now you know why you or someone you care about  need to read - and to heed - the laugh-out-loud life lessons, and more serious matters, in

How Do Happy Times Strengthen Minds and Bodies, Plus Our Potential?

B'SD

15 Shvat, 5776

The answer to my blogpost's title is this: With focus on the wholesome goal you need. Read on.

Today is the Jewish holiday of Tu B'Shvat, the New Year for trees. I spoke of the ecologic, historic and spiritual reality about that to participants in the party I made at my synagogue last night.

Here are a few photos of the fun we enjoyed.

Israeli law forbids citizens to post online photos of minors without the documented permission of their parents/guardians. This is to protect them from evildoers. So, I can't post more party pix as kids tend to show up in several of them. But their families have the pix to treasure.

This photo is of the craft project they worked on: Coloring a tree, folding the bottom into a square, decorating the whole thing with stickers, and setting the colorful item into a square holder. Then they planted sprouting garlics and inserted the live greenery into their pot holder. I took a shot that I call The Kidcraft Garden.

People with special food needs enjoyed my home made sushi, gluten-free crackers, those coconut mint carob rounds, plus quinoa mixed with sweet potato and sauteed onion. The regular diners enjoyed the couscous I'd made plus the home cooked food that other participants brought..

The healing efforts I make are blessed from Above to help me to see ever-better. It was a blessing to be part of the fun depicted in today's blogpost. Here's a picture of me wearing the 21st pair of prescription lenses since 2006.

I'm in the gray hat, standing next to one of the artists who displayed their works at the event I'd arranged.

Yes, my glasses are hard to spot: the lenses are so thin that I bought wire frames instead of recycling an older, thicker pair that are no longer suited to the job.

Want to listen to a song I'm following this week?

The lyrics speak of a man whose heart cries with pain at the suffering of his beloved. He tries to grasp her hands as he speaks words that he prays will soothe her; "GOD sees and hears everything from above, forgets nothing, and will fulfill the heavenly promise to sweeten our lives. The blood of innocents, including soldiers who died defending other people's lives, the agony will never be forgotten nor forgiven. A new light will shine throughout the universe. A lovely dove will inscribe peace upon blue and white skies. We'll be safe in our ancestral home."

It is the metaphor for GOD's relationship to His People.

Meanwhile, let's do the best we can to perfect our personalities.

Happiness strengthen our minds and bodies, let alone our potential.

Cherishing Life Despite Hardships, a How-to.

B'SD

8/9 Shvat, 5776

It's after nightfall here in Israel, a new day. I've spent much of the daylight hours crying, sighing and praying due to the recent terrorist murder of an ideal Israeli.

My composure is somewhat recovered, my energies directed toward preparing for my synagogue's Tu B'Shvat celebration this coming Sunday night. I'm in charge of the program.

This Hebrew-language video explains to children that we cherish the life deep inside plants, the potential for goodness, though superficial appearances deceive us into seeing what appears to be lifelessness.

Israelis spend the holiday praising the special foods grown in the Holy Land, and planting trees.

Perhaps you'd like to spend some time praying for the safety of innocents and celebrating the sweetness of life with me.

I plan to blog again after I've cooked up some holiday foods for the forthcoming party.

The best response to sorrow is to dig deep inside yourself, decide on a noble response, a life-embracing perspective, then to live up to your principles.

Caving in to sorrow as a lifestyle is a recipe for disaster, personal and otherwise.

Empower yourself to make wholesome progress.
