Calm Down, One Click at a Time. Here's How.

B'SD

17 Nisan, 5778

After the scarefest that mainstream media foisted on the public about the "WhoKnowsWhere Tiongang 1 Space Station will land?" question, here are some calming ideas to put you at ease:

1. There were numerous reports of the small chance
that any materials would survive the descent to earth.

2. There was ample information about the need to
avoid potentially harmful radiation IF scraps landed near you.

3. News sources were obviously trying to raise
reader interest in the non-story.

The return to earth was manipulated by reporters eager to increase their readership.

Manipulation = coercion, not a genuine item for public concern.

The main theme of what I write about in the mental health field is that you need not panic because someone said, asked or wanted something. You can think for yourself. Sort out your thoughts about some issue or other. Consider past examples of when you overcame challenges and how past crises proved not be problematic, but only misinterpreted.

Ask yourself "What's wrong with the picture?" when you feel startled by something. Then, choose your well-considered response to the matter.

Let the editors and I know what you think of my writings. Did they soothe you? Help you to think more clearly? Something else?

Well no wonder you have that headache! (Here's how to STOP it!)

B'SD

21 Sivan, 5777

I enjoyed a long, educational conversation across a few continents last night as I conferenced with some medical and mental health professionals. The conversation came about due to a most unusual observation that I'd made, then asked those professionals about the phenomenon.

Their collective jaws dropped as each conversationalist paused to consider what I'd said.

I have quite an informative article/blogpost regarding EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) coming up. It's a method for ending Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (an astonishing blessing in its own right).

Stand by for updates!

Meanwhile, no wonder you have that headache!

Lowering Anxiety with an Education and Kindness

B'SD

1 Tevet, 5775

Before I go further with this blogpost, I want to thank the people who've expressed their sympathy and support to me for contending with that recent "There's another meningioma, and the MRI technician thought it was harming me?" shock to my system.

Your outreach and reaction to the situation is remarkable, the sort of goodness we pray to find in the world.

I want to underscore that it was a mistaken diagnosis
Humans are humans.

GOD blessed me with competent clarification
from the new neurosurgeon on my medical team:
Nothing is amiss.

Together we blessed me with the
ability to deal with
an alarming announcement
in a calm, rational manner.

My past practice with and dedication to
behaving sensibly, no matter what, paid off well.

My new neurosurgeon and I have a terrifically pleasant rapport. He and I agreed to do another photo-op same time, next year, to monitor things.

He responded pleasantly and thoroughly to all my questions, treating me and the friend who'd escorted me to the appointment with total respect and a sense of humor. I consider the whole phenomenon a gift from GOD.

I didn't post an update yesterday due to being down with a severe cold. The bug felled lots of people in my community. I'm happy to be feeling better today and want to share some important information.

One of the issues that this blog and the

book deal with is mental and emotional health
(yes, they're individual realities).

I found an online article that highlights a point I make in my personal life and in my self-help coaching plus public speaking efforts: ASK the person with a problem what YOU can do to help them.

Don't assume anything, not even that you understand the scope of the situation. Prophecy and mind-reading are not part of your picture, OK?

Here's the article I suggest that you read and share widely:

A Question for You...

B'SD

10 Nisan, 5773

I'm certified in Counseling Skills and as a Melavah Holim (a sort of spiritual chaplain). I'm always interested to find out how upbeat people remain that way despite life's hardships.

I long to help others to make the breakthrough that gets them to indulge their Inner Totally Decent Self (ben adam in Hebrew) with ever-improving efforts to be Better Than Ever.

I use humor to put clients and friends at ease. It often works. I'd like to find out how you improve yourself.

Willing to let me in on the secret before or after Easter weekend and Passover?

Please share your comments below so other people can grow ;^ D

End Your Anxiety about Health Care Legislation

B'SD

14 Nisan 5770

Pesach/Passover begins tonight, several hours ahead of US time (Israel went into Daylight Savings Time last week). I'll be taking a weeklong blog break to savor the holiday with celebrations, hikes and quality time with friends.

Meanwhile, read the NY Times Wellness blogpost
Doctors Offer Thoughts on Cutting Health Care Costs.

The problem with those otherwise life-saving ideas is that it will take too much time for relevant legislation to pass. Who knows if they can hang on until 2014???

Here's an immediate solution to the problem!

Calm down with funny thoughts, uplifting ideas and doctor-recommended reading. SAVE BIG on healthcare costs with the extensive list of worldwide resources for free and low-cost medical care, medications, medical appliances and more when you read

Kids with Type 1 Diabetes Will Soon Have a New Resource!

B'SD

19 Kislev 5770

Children do not relate well to illness and restraint. Childhood is the learning ground for developing mature behavior in about 1.5 to 2 decades. They need user-friendly lessons and approaches that meet their non-adult needs for complying with dietary rules, physical limitations and uncomfortable medical treatment.

Diabetic children need to cooperate
with blood checks, too.

The Children with Diabetes website has addressed those needs for a while.

Now Israel's child-friendly and fun-oriented Kav-Or Distance Learning site for hospitalized children is about to add another page to its web presences: Type 1 Diabetes information geared to children with that condition.

Kav-Or means "Connection to Light" in Hebrew. Ending the darkness of lonely hospital stays and of being different from other children definitely connects little ones to lighter days and outlooks. The multi-lingual site informs readers of how to manage their medical conditions and have some fun in Arabic, English, Hebrew and Spanish.

Lighten your child's life with a visit to
Kav-Or online. And check out its soon-to-debut site dedicated to Children with Type 1 Diabetes. You'll find out about sugar levels, insulin use and nutrition there. The content is being created based on the questions often asked by children with diabetes. The site will offer solutions to enjoying holiday meals and school trips, restaurants, sports activities, and more, providing tools and information for handling those situations. Be sure to check out the interactive Flash carbohydrate calculator with visual and textual elements for calculating the insulin-to-carbohydrate ratio of various meals!

Hmm, some adults might need
to see that, too ;^ )

Want some other terrific, kid-friendly resources that the Kav-Or and Children with Diabetes sites don't have? They're inside my book! Buy and read it today!
